IMPORTANT NOTE: Recently the Kingston Police purchased and implemented a new fingerprinting station.  We are pleased to offer walk-in service for digital fingerprints (i.e. no appointment required) Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. (holidays excluded).  If you require inked fingerprints, you MUST book an appointment – walk-in service is not being offered for inked prints.  It is YOUR responsibility to ensure that you are requesting the correct types of fingerprints.  Because our counter can become busy, you may be asked to wait. 

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR COSTS OF FINGERPRINTING:  If you attend during our regular business hours without an appointment, the cost for fingerprinting is $35.  If you are booking an appointment (you may book an appointment for either inked or digital fingerprints), the cost for fingerprinting is $50.  You should also understand that while the Kingston Police charge either $35 or $50 for taking your fingerprints (depending on whether you have booked an appointment or not), the RCMP may charge a further $25 fee for processing your fingerprints (which we would collect on their behalf).  The RCMP will waive their processing fee for the following:

  • You are applying for Landed Immigrant (Permanent Resident) Status;
  • You are applying for Canadian Citizenship;
  • You are applying for direct employment with the Federal Government and the specific Agency is requiring a fingerprint check (please note that contractors working for the Federal Government do NOT qualify for a fee waiver).  The additional RCMP fee ($25) will be collected unless you provide the complete name and address of the Federal Agency (or their ORI number) that you are applying for at the time of fingerprinting as the results are sent to the agency directly.
  • You are applying for a volunteer position.  The additional RCMP fee ($25) will be collected unless you bring to the appointment a letter from the Agency on Agency letterhead that clearly identifies that the purpose of the check is for a volunteer purpose.

The additional RCMP fee ($25) will be collected at the time of fingerprinting for Record Suspension applications, Adoptions, Provincial Government Employment, Visa/Border Crossing, Private Sector Employment or any other reason not listed above.

Forgotten your appointment date and/or time or need to reschedule or cancel your appointment?  Click the resend email button and you will receive an email indicating the date and time of your appointment.   You may reschedule any time up until the time of your appointment. 

If you have booked an appointment, you may reschedule any time up until the time of your appointment. 

 

IF YOU CANCEL YOUR APPOINTMENT OR FAIL TO ATTEND FOR YOUR SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT,

THE KINGSTON POLICE WILL NOT REFUND YOUR FINGERPRINTING FEE.
